The queen's chest rose and fell slowly as she slept, the lab silent around her. William had gone out to test his new serum; she was alone, like she had been... alot, lately. Her eyes flickered open as a rumble emitted from her stomach, and she glanced around. Standing and stretching, muscles rippling under her coat, she slunk to the edge of the room, where the corpse that had been brought home last night was still laying. The white Hive began to chew on an arm, boredly. Another average day...

Chase let out a yawn as he walked down the road. He was bored, and feeling a little neglected. Arty was at Evelyn's, and Chase was just walking around feeling down on himself.
Then, he changed direction, a small sign of hope in his cool blue eyes. He soon found himself at William's lab. His senses told him William was away. He strolled inside through the little door made for the Hive. He casually walked over and sat down beside Queen. "Miss me?"

The queen brightened for a moment, eyes filled with hope? "Willia- oh." She frowned when she saw who it was. "Oh, it's you." The Hive stood, staring at the dingo. Her eyes showed a hint of... fear. She wasn't used to having anyone else besides William in her home, and she wasn't quite sure what she should do. "What do you want?"

Chase looked at Queen, noticing her glare. Yet, he sensed fear. "Don't worry. I'm not gunna hurt you." He winked. "I just got bored. My friend is spending a lot of time with some girl now, and I just thought I'd drop by."

She shook her head, frown deepening. "No, no, you shouldn't be here," she murmured. "When William gets back..." The queen sighed. "What are you, anyway? You're a dog... but you're talking. You shouldn't be talking." She took a step back, but kept her eyes on him.

"I know, I shouldn't be. But...I couldn't help it. Yeah. I'll be in a 'ell of a mess if he catches me."
"Yeah, I talk. I'm also not supposed to have these blue eyes," he joked. "I'm a weredingo. You know, sort of like a werewolf, only smaller. Weredingos have three forms. Human, Dingo, and one that looks like a combination of the other two."
His gaze lowered. "But...I'm stuck like this."

She nodded when he explained he was a weredingo. She understood that; William had taught her about all the different mythical creatures. The queen was about to ask why he had chosen to walk around in that form, but he explained without her even needing to.
"But...I'm stuck like this."
"...stuck?" she asked, brows furrowed. "How?"

"It's complicated," Chase responded. "And...something I don't usually talk about. "Well, it was about a couple hundred years ago or so. I was a little more....reckless and bold back then. I was in my human form, and I met this beautiful young woman. So...I walked up and...hit on her." He paused. "Turns out, the she-devil was a witch. Cast a spell trappin' me in my dingo form. She coulda just said 'no'...." He let out a whine. |

The queen listened intently. She hadn't ever really heard of magic actually happening- William had denounced it, being a man of science- but she could tell that was what it was. She sat, looking saddened. "I'm sorry," she murmured when he finished.

"Eh, it's alright," Chase said. "I'm used to it. It's been a couple hundred years, after all. Plenty of time to cope."
He sat down, scratching behind his ear with his back foot. "So, what's your story? How'd someone as stunning as you come into existence?"

The queen chuckled, laying down. "I was created in this very lab," she said. "On that table." She nodded her head in the direction of the table she spoke of; a steel platform in the middle of the lab. "William needed a companion. So he created me, a pet of sorts. But he gave me a mind like his, so we could talk with each other, hold conversations. And he raised me. But... he was missing something. He'd been tormented all his life. I realized what he needed was revenge on those that had hurt him. So he made the Hive. An entire species, modeled after me." She grinned, eyes looking far-off as she recalled. "He connected them all to my mind, lowered their intelligence. They're the troops of war; his children. And I'm at the helm."

Chase cocked his head to the side as he listened. "Wow...so that William guy's a genius....wait...revenge on those that hurt him? I can relate there. The majority of the human race. My pack was killed by humans. And so was my friend Arty's. We decided to take out our rage, and love of fire, out on the humans. Only now...Arty has a girlfriend."
He whined. "Me...I got no one." He lay down, closing his eyes.

The queen sighed and stood. She walked over to him, gave him a quick lick on the head, then padded over to her bed and lay down, to sleep again. Either he would be gone by the time she woke up, or William would be back before he could sneak back out.

Chase smiled a bit as Queen licked him on top of the head, and soon was in a deep sleep.
William came inside after a day of testing out his new serum on a few of his babies. He was very pleased with the results. However, he wasn't pleased when he saw the weredingo sleeping in his lab. Shock cane in hand, he walked over and stuck Chase's hindquarters with it.
BZZZZT!
"WAKEY WAKEY!" William exclaimed, grin on his face. He stuck the weredingo a few more times, until he finally got up and left.
"Um...Precious?" he asked, "How long was he here?"

The queen woke up when William came in. She frowned as he stuck the weredingo with his shockcane, but said nothing. As soon as Chase left, she padded up to William and rubbed her head against his leg, purring.
"Um...Precious? How long was he here?"
The queen frowned again. "He got here a few minutes before I took my nap, Will," she said. "I didn't know what to do with him. I just let him stay."
