At the memory of the departed princess, Abe's attitude sobered drastically.
It was undeniable that although the bluish man hadn't spent much time with the elven princess, he was unable to stop these romantic feelings. He couldn't banish the prospect of what could have been if she survived the merciless ambition of Prince Nuada.
When Abe noticed the closeness of Hannah's self to his tank and her question that was directed at him, he immediately attempted a happy facade.
"I'm well, Hannah. You need not fret about me. I was merely reminded of a dear person, that's all."
The aquatic man mentally noted how...heavenly her grey eyes were...
"Dear goodness, if Hellboy could see any of this, he'd most certainly laugh his tail off..." He thought.

"I'm well, Hannah. You need not fret about me. I was merely reminded of a dear person, that's all."
Even though he was trying to look happy, she could tell... something was up. And for some reason, it hurt her to see him hurt. Hannah reached a hand up and placed it on the glass.
"You sure?" she asked in a quieter tone, frown deepening. For a fleeting second, her mind flicked to Ty and how glad she was he wasn't here to see her like this; he was like her brother, he'd probably tease her for it. But then, she regained focus. The water in the cup near her sloshed with her worry, but she tried her hardest not to affect the currents in Abe's tank.

"Well, actually," Abe confided solemnly. "I feel...forlorn. It's reasonable to say that this dear person was thoroughly special to me..."
The icthyo sapien looked at a fixed point of the tank, delving into fond memories of Nuala before returning his gaze to Hannah.
"One day, if you're willing, I'll probably speak of her to you."
Then Abe turned his sights to the book that Hannah touched. By merely staring at the tome, he felt the indescribable will to realize a sudden decision.
"It greatly astonishes me, but in this short period of time, I feel greatly comforted by your presence. Would you mind if I asked for you to come here on a daily basis to assist in my studies?"

"Well, actually... I feel...forlorn. It's reasonable to say that this dear person was thoroughly special to me... One day, if you're willing, I'll probably speak of her to you."
Hannah cocked a small smile, nodding. She'd had a few relationships before, so she understood. She slowly, hesitantly, removed her hand from his tank, shoving it roughly in her jeans pocket.
"It greatly astonishes me, but in this short period of time, I feel greatly comforted by your presence. Would you mind if I asked for you to come here on a daily basis to assist in my studies?"
The woman's eyes looked down, to her own feet. She almost blushed again. "I'd... I'd like that, Abe," she said after a few moments, eyes raising to look at him again. "It'd have to be on my break, though. I'm sorta working overtime, with the Hive case."

"I understand," Abe consented. "Those creatures are extremely vicious and every moment that isn't spent countering their moves allows them to have a strengthened advantage over us."
The amphibious man swam as close to his vintage book as possible and spoke with a clear comprehension of her situation.
"At any rate, if you're busy searching for vital information that will lead the BPRD to victory, you may go and indulge. Also, be sure to ask for my comprehensive assistance should you ever feel lost and uncertain."

Hannah chuckled and nodded. "Yeah... research was kinda why I was here in the first place." She could feel the stress from the day beginning to show, but she kept her grin. Talking to him kept her happy.
That's when Hellboy stepped into the library for a moment. His hands were shoved in the pockets of his trenchcoat, and he had an unlit cigar in his mouth. "Hey, kid, it's time to get back to work," he said, voice somewhat muffled by the cigar.
The woman turned and frowned, but nodded. She glanced back at Abe. "Talk to you tomorrow, then? Same time?" Her voice sounded somewhat hopeful.

"Of course, Hannah," Abe said in a comfortingly happy tone. "I don't mind at all. I'm already looking forward to it."

Hannah grinned widely, then briskly walked to the door. She gave Hellboy a nod as she left.
As soon as he was sure Hannah was out of earshot, Hellboy snorted. He chuckled. "What was that?" the half demon said, grinning. He shook his head. "Damn. Good job, Abe."

Abe Sapien thusly commenced his instinctive embarrassed sputtering at the half-demon agent.
"Hellboy, I must protest your insinuation! I absolutely agree that Hannah is such an intriguing person, but..."
With the utterance of the conjunction, Abe suddenly felt uncertainty. So much so, that he quelled himself into a contemplative silence.
"I can't possibly care for her at this level already... After all, I just met her!"
If the icthyo sapien had been a homo sapien, he would be blushing profusely at this very moment. Not to mention the fact that the bluish humanoid was merely worsening his embarrassment.

"Hellboy, I must protest your insinuation! I absolutely agree that Hannah is such an intriguing person, but..."
"Awwww, that's adorable." Abe's sputtering only made Hellboy laugh a tad harder. The half demon looked down, shaking with the vibrations of it. After a couple minutes of this, he calmed down and glanced up.
"Y'know, it took me a couple weeks to actually get her to say something other then 'yes, sir' or 'no, sir'. She ain't really the talkative type."

"So, you're saying," Abe verbally illustrated. "This is a major accomplishment when taking into account her inability to interact with others?"
In light of this realization, the water-dweller smiled at what had transpired.
"In that case, I'm delighted to help Hannah in flourishing her sociability."

"So, you're saying... This is a major accomplishment when taking into account her inability to interact with others?"
Hellboy snorted again. "No, what I'm saying is..." The half demon took out a match and lit his cigar with it, breathing in the smoke. "What I'm saying is, whatever feelings you got are probably mutual." Red chuckled again.
"That's hilarious... you and Hannah..."

The icthyo sapien pondered Hellboy's clairvoyant deduction, but became slightly agitated at the reddish half-demon's hilarity toward his awkward situation.
"Well, that aside, is there any particular reason for your being here?" Abe humphed, wanting to read his book.

Hellboy shrugged. "I was really just sent her to tell the kid to get back to work," he mumbled. "Guess I don't got much reason to stay here now."
He turned to leave, then looked back, remembering something. "Hey, we're sorta shorthanded on the Hive case. Think you could help out a bit?" The half-demon cocked a brow, awaiting an answer.

Abe didn't even need time to consider the request, for he was one to always aid his dearest friends in their times of need.
"Of course, Red. It truly would be unlike me to decline participating in protecting innocent lives from ruthless hoards of monsters, anyway."
Before swimming to the aquatic abode's exit, he glanced at his current place in the book. Then the bluish one looked at Hellboy again.
"How soon do we depart for our next mission?"
