Hannah walked briskly down the halls after talking to Abe, heart still fluttering a bit. She couldn't help but smile to herself. The young woman made her way to the science department, to the room where the bones of the Hive were laying.
No one had gotten there, yet, so she set to work on her own while she waited. She stood over the table, eyes running over the unique form of the femur and spine, the flanges (the one on the back of the front paw, she'd noticed, was quite like a human thumb), the skull. Hannah licked her lips, silver-grey eyes trying to drink in every last detail.

Ty walked down the halls, heading for the lab. Cass was in Ty's room, taking a nap. He wasn't sure what exactly he would do when he got to the lab, he was just going in the hopes of discovering something new about the Hive.
When he got to the lab, Hannah was already there, examining the body. He walked up and stared down at the body. "So....learn anything?"

Hannah was still smiling to herself, lost in thought, so it took a few moments for her mind to register someone else was in the room. It took another couple of moments for her to realize who it was, and that he had just spoken.
"So....learn anything?"
The woman looked up in shock for a moment, but spoke as soon as she calmed down.
"Well, they have thumbs," she said, her voice sounding hopeful. "Did we know they had thumbs?"

"Thumbs?" Ty asked, rubbing his chin. "Definitely new...How did I not know that when there's a Hive napping in my room?" He laughed, "Right...because I'm me,"
He looked at Hannah. "So, we now know they have thumbs. But....why? I mean...what for?"

Thumbs? Definitely new...How did I not know that when there's a Hive napping in my room? Right...because I'm me,"
Hannah chuckled at that. "Good job, Ty."
"So, we now know they have thumbs. But....why? I mean...what for?"
The woman couldn't help herself. "Well, Ty, thumbs are primarily used for grasping," she said, rolling her eyes and giggling. "I'm not really sure why he'd put them on there. Maybe to help them carry small things? It can't be very easy to do that with their mouths when they have those sabres..." Hannah frowned, and looked down. "I dunno. This guy's mind... it's hard to tell."

Abe Sapien swiftly entered the Science Department and saw Hannah along with another BPRD agent, a young human man.
"Hello again, Hannah," Abe greeted in kindest sincerity. "Agent Hellboy extended an offer for my assistance in the dire situation, so I am here."
The icthyo sapien turned to the blond agent and inquired.
"I don't believe we've been introduced. My name is Abe Sapien. And yours?"
During his introduction, he extended a hand toward the as of yet unknown man.

"Sis? Was that...a joke? Be careful, I think I'm rubbin' off on ya, he teased.
Ty looked at Abe when he came in. He nodded and shook his hand. "I've heard a lot about ya, Abe, but no...I don't believe we've actually met. Name's Ty Smith. But most people around here just call me Slick. Nice to meet ya, Abe." He released Abe's hand and turned back to the Hive body, thinking.

"Sis? Was that...a joke? Be careful, I think I'm rubbin' off on ya."
Hannah snorted. "Yeah, you wish." That's when Abe walked in.
"Greetings again, Hannah. Agent Hellboy extended an offer for my assistance in the dire situation, so I am here."
The woman's face brightened when she saw him, and she nodded. "We could really use you, Abe. I'm glad you came." She gave him a small smile. Then, she turned back to the skeleton. "Ok, so, thumbs." Hannah pulled out her clipboard and wrote that down. "And the spine seems really flexible, from the way it looks."

Abe approached the examination table which held the vastly intricate remains of a "Hive". The skeletal structure seemed to be a pristine genetic portmanteau of unnatural evolution; however, it was an immense achievement unto life itself. Quite so, the blue humanoid felt something akin to true appreciation for this race, but he refused to allow them to ruthlessly desolate all in their path.
"Hannah, Ty?" Abe queried. "My mind must consume every last ounce of information you have on the Hive. Do tell me what you both know in extensive detail."

Ty thought a moment, not really being good at explaining things. "Well...they're called the Hive. They were created by a mad scientist, hunt in packs, and there are who-knows-how many packs out there. Every now and then, two or more packs will team up.
They're strong, ruthless, and very fast." He turned to Hannah. "Did I miss anything?"

Hannah nodded, then continued for Ty. "They have a shared mind, but they're linked to it through the collars. If the collar is taken off or destroyed, they become disconnected, which depresses them. The collars also keep them stupid. They're faster then Ty, from what we can tell, but as you can see from this body..." The young woman pointed to a shattered part of the skull; where she had shot it. "...they aren't immune to bullets, if you manage to hit one."
She let out a sigh. "And, um... we don't think they're really as vicious as they seem," Hannah murmured. "They're just following orders. You should see how they treat that man. He's the real bad guy in this."

After listening to the bountiful information, Abe felt his fascinated appreciation for these creatures increase to a fair amount.
"So, they are basically made to be kept as ignorant slaves to answer to the inhuman whims of this scientist..."
The aquatic man touched the skeletal remains of the Hive in pity, for now it seemed quite obvious to him that as artificial life-forms they were never given the freedom of choice.
"What do we know about this so-called 'mad scientist?'"

"What do we know about this so-called 'mad scientist?'"
Ty shrugged. "Pretty much next to nothing," he said bluntly. "He's crazy, he created these creatures, and he carries a cane that acts as a very powerful taser like thing. Aaaaand that's pretty much it. Plain and simple." He probably came across as a little harsh sounding there, but the idea of how he'd been knocked out so easily by that cane still made him a little mad.

Hannah sat down in a nearby chair and rubbed her temple, looking frustrated. "The guy was just... there. And we talked to him a bit, but... nothing. We know absolutely nothing." The woman sighed and looked down at her feet. "I mean, if we knew something, a name, records, anything, it would be a huge help."
She reached over and picked the skull up, off of the table, looking at it and tracing over the eye sockets with her right index finger.

Abe was lost within his mind, cogitating any possible solutions to this conundrum.
"This person must have a trail of some sort..."
And then an idea suddenly blindsided him in an instant of clarity.
"That's it! Trail! This man must at least be a superbly knowledgeable and skilled geneticist, correct? In order to have gained such immeasurable scientific excellence, he must have worked with others of his caliber in a common place of thinkers."
The blue one began pacing around the room.
"I submit to you both that there may be people who know this man. Since we're unable to find him, we must find them. All that needs to be done is a search of any scientist who abruptly vanished from a scientific institution. Undoubtedly, this madman left such a place to pursue his dark goals."
Abe looked with a calm quietness at Hannah and Ty to see if they would deem his theory feasible.
