Once upon a time there lived a people called the D'ni. They lived deep within the Earth, studying their ancient Art of writing Ages. Entire worlds created through words alone. Two hundred years ago the D'ni vanished, leaving behind their city. Though no one knows where this city is, there are clues, a path around this world and through many others.
Jack of Blade, an ancient being from another world, has found this trail. He plans to use the Art to remake Earth in his image, and reawaken the other two members of the Void Court: the Queen and Knight of Blades. If he succeeds, Earth is doomed.
