Serena stood outside the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense building, also known as the BPRD building. She knew that Ty lived here, and she just had to see him. She jumped on the fence, and got across the lawn without the dogs waking up nor any of the additional guards that were patrolling. Once inside, she sniffed for Ty's scent. She walked down the hallway, and looked around, noticing the scent was getting stronger.
"Ty?" she whispered. She peered at a door of which the scent seemed to be coming from. She knocked on the door twice, hoping it was him inside and not someone else that would most likely stake her. After hearing from Terry about the vampire hunter, she didn't want to take any more chances.

Ty let out a sigh, glaring at the computer. It was messing up, and he'd been elected to fix it because of his experience. Then, it finally booted up and acted right. "FINALLY...." He jumped, and fell out of his chair and onto the floor when someone knocked on the office door.
Brushing himself off, he got up and opened it. He was startled at who was standing there, but it was a nice kind of startled. "Serena!" he said. "What...How'd you get here?" he stammered, glancing back into the small office at the now functional computer.

Serena stepped back from the door when she heard a soft thud. "Ty? You all right?" Then he opened the door and she smiled at him. "Hi." He seemed surprise to see her there. "Surprised?" When he asked the question of how she got there and looked over his shoulder, she faltered on her smile. She had seen enough romance movies to know it usually meant they were busy with another girl. "Oh..." She looked at her feet. "I just...well, I um..." She pointed towards the door she came in. "I came in through there. And the dogs were asleep, and I thought I would..." She sighed, running a hand through her hair. "So...um...I'll leave you two alone." Then she started speeding off, a visible blush on her cheeks.

Ty blinked, a little startled, especially when she said "I'll leave you two alone." He ran, cutting her off and stopping a ways in front of her. "What do you mean, 'you two?'? That's not even CLOSE to what I was doing, unless 'you two' means me and the computer I was fixing." He smiled at her. "I was just surprised to see you here is all. Especially after what happened the other night."
He paused. "Um...you look great-I mean, you seem to have healed..." He looked away nervously.

Serena stopped when Ty got in front of her, and she looked down quickly until the blush went away. Then she looked back at him and she raised an eyebrow. "You amuse me, Ty." She leaned against the wall. "Computer? I have never used one before.." She looked around to make sure no one came by yet.
Then Serena heard Ty and she smiled. "Yup, fully healed. Ice is good for my burns. I just wanted to check on you....and, well...what did you mean you lost your parents?" She didn't want to sound harsh, so she quickly took a step backwards. "I-I'm sorry. Maybe that's not a question I should ask."

Ty looked at her and smiled. "Yeah. I spend a lot of time fixing them. They can be a total pain sometimes." He blushed when she mentioned checking up on him. "Oh, I'm doing fine. And I never got to thank you for saving me the other night."
He stopped cold when she asked how he lost his parents. He wiped a tear from his eye and stepped toward her. "It's okay, really. I just...don't know if I'm ready to talk about that yet. I mean...Hannah, she's like a sister to me, doesn't even know about that...."

Serena smiled back. "Wow. You must have some skills to fix a computer. I could never do that." She blinked. "I never saved you like you saved me. I want to thank you for that. Thank you. You have no idea how grateful I am." She grinned. "You took on a vampire that could eat you into non-existence."
Serena looked at him as he wiped a tear from his eye. She hated making other people cry, and soon found herself fighting back tears. "You don't have to tell me. I understand..." She looked down at her feet and said, "No one's going to see me here and get mad, are they?"

"Hey," he said, "had you not saved me from the first mess, the second probably wouldn't have happened. You put yourself in danger for me, even though you hadn't seen me before in your life." He grinned. "Besides, that's my job."
"It's fine," he said, taking her hand without thinking. "I guess I need to talk about it sometime, get 11 years of pain off of my chest." He thought a moment. "Well, this may not be the best place to talk. Wanna go outside?"

Serena smiled a small smile at Ty. "I couldn't let you get killed, now could I?" She raised an eyebrow and then giggled. "It may be your job, but it's my hobby."
Serena felt him grab her hand and she squeezed his, to show she was there for him. "Outside sounds good to me, just as long as there is no direct sunlight. Sunlight kills me. Lead the way," she said softly, giving him a smile. She hoped he knew that he didn't have to talk if he didn't want to.

Ty smiled, taking her outside. It wasn't sunny outside in the least bit. He leaned up against the side of the building. "This is something I've been holding in for eleven years. It's time I get it out." He smiled at her, still holding her hand.
"Well...I wasn't always BPRD. I grew up as an only child with two loving parents who gave me everything I wanted. But...I was a troublemaker. At age thirteen, I stole a car. I got into a wreck and killed both people in the other car. It was....my parents..."
He felt tears welling up. "I was sent to a boys home, where I discovered my powers and escaped. Then, the BPRD took me in and I've been here ever since."

Serena leaned against the wall lying next to him, and held onto his hand. She listened intently to Ty's story and she fought back tears of her own. She pulled his hand and wrapped her arms around him in a hug. "I'm sorry." She didn't know what else to say.
Still having her arms around him, she pulled away slightly. "That's a horrible memory to have. But it isn't your fault, not really. It's Henry Ford's..." She hugged him again and kept him in her embrace. "I'm positive your parents would be so proud of you now."

He hugged her back as the tears flowed. He didn't want to let go, and his grip showed it. "It is...they didn't deserve a kid like me..." He sobbed between breaths. "I...I knew better. Everything they did was for me, and everything I did was for myself."
"Maybe, but they're not here, now. And it's all my fault."

Serena knew Ty didn't want to let go, and she wasn't about to let go of him, either. "They loved you. That's what matters, and don't speak like you're a worthless little nothing, because you're not. You were just a kid--you did not know better. You were only thirteen. No one knows what's going to happen in the future as humans. Believe me."
When Ty still blamed himself, Serena reached up and bopped him on the head, still hugging him. She moved her hand up and down his back and said, "It's not your fault, and they're still watching over you. They are proud of you. I know it."

"Maybe...." Ty looked surprised when she bopped him on the head, but relaxed feeling her hand rubbing his back. He just stood there hugging her, feeling so comfortable, warm, and safe in her arms. "Yeah. They would be. They'd be glad I found a good use for my mischief." He leaned back and smiled, getting lost into her eyes.

Serena smiled as Ty spoke. It seemed he was feeling a little better, which was good. It made her feel better all in all. Then he leaned back and stared into her eyes, and she stared back. "W-Well, I, uh, hopefully made you, erm, feel better, yes?" She blushed and wanted to look away but she couldn't. Her hand stopped rubbing his back as they stood there, her arms around him, and his around her. "I, uh, hope so, anyway...."
