"The guy, um... he shocked you with his cane," Hannah said. "Then he took a blood sample." That triggered a memory. "The body!" she said, turning and running to the hallway where they had left it. It hadn't been touched; the rest of the pack must have not gone down this way. Grunting, she picked the limp Hive corpse up. The creatures were the size of a large dog, so they were around the same weight as one. Struggling, she carried the body back to where Ty and Sarah were.
"Whaddyou say we open this puppy up and see what makes it tick?"

Sarah shook her head as Ty apologised. "Don't beat yourself up over it," she said. "You pretty much just got tazered, I think that's punishment enough."
Realising she was still holding her gun, she put it down on the nearest table, having not put on a holster when she left the room, and watched Hannah run off in search of the Hive body.
"Whaddyou say we open this puppy up and see what makes it tick?"
Sarah looked down at the body. "Yes please," she said. Hopefully this thing would give them some kind of answers.

"Wow...That sucks." Then it hit him. "Blood...blood sample? That can't be good...Only God knows what that nutjob is going to do with it..." When Sarah put her gun on the table, it reminded that his gun and one of his daggers was still outside. Oh well, they'll be there still. And if not, it ain't like they're irreplaceable. My favorite, custom-made one is still on my nightstand...
"Whaddyou say we open this puppy up and see what makes it tick?"
Ty looked up as Hannah made her way into the room holding the dead Hive. He stood up and stretched, his strength coming back. "Sure thing, Sis." In the back of his mind, he was sort of glad he got electrocuted. The horror of that moment caused them not to ask about him almost letting it slip about his vampire girlfriend.

Hannah grinned. If there was one thing she was good at, besides her little water tricks, it was biology. "Let's get it to the lab, then." She made her way to the lab, then set the body down on an empty table. She washed her hands, then put on some plastic gloves. Then, she walked up to the table and looked at the collar, trying to think of some way to get it off without breaking it. There was a clasp on the bottom, but it needed a key code. Hannah frowned.

Ty joined Hannah in the lab, looking over the creature. He too had on gloves, just in case. He looked at the key code on the Hive's collar. His eyes brightened for a moment.
"Can I do the honors?" he asked with a grin. "I haven't hacked anything" cough, "for a case," cough, "in ages!" Quickly, he stepped over to the creature and it's collar. "Interesting...."
In moments, Ty had it off, and handed it to Hannah.

Hannah grinned. "Ty, you're a miracle worker." She set the collar aside, noting that the left green light went out the moment it was off of the creature. She stroked her hand down the side of the Hive, studying it. "They certainly are somewhat... majestic, when they aren't attacking you," she murmured, admiring the musculature on it. "Alright, well... time for the fun part." She reached over to a box of disection tools and picked up a scalpel.

"The one and only," he joked, looking over the creature. "Yeah, they're very cool." He stepped back, letting Hannah take care of 'the fun part.' He watched. "You know, seeing as how they call him "master", and they're his 'babies,' it's almost like...they're really not bad at all...they're just...pets...very obedient pets."

"Yeah," Hannah murmured, taking out the different organs. "I don't think they're the bad guys in this. It's that man." She frowned. "They do seem like they'd make good pets. They're adorable, in a way." She was silent for a couple of minutes, and then... "Ty, this is, weird, but... this creature isn't... natural. It's sorta... stitched together, in places." The truth began to dawn on her. "That guy out there... when he called them his babies, he meant it. He made these things."

Ty listened as she spoke, taking in every word. "That's it, then. They obey their Master. Their Father." He thought a moment. "Man, that guy, whoever he is, is a genius, no doubt about it."
He sat back and sighed. "But...the thing I don't get, what's up with the crazy collars they all have on?"

Hannah frowned, took off the gloves, then picked up the collar. "You think you can take it apart, see what all the parts do? One of the lights went out when we took it off." She cocked a brow. "Maybe it's a way of figuring out where they are? Of tracking them?"

Ty zipped to his room, grabbed his tool box, and was in the lab again in a flash. He took to disassembling the collar. He looked at what he had.
"Hmm....so one of these, the big red one, is to the tracking device, and basically lets you know it's working. The light that went off, I don't know exactly what it does, but the fact that it shut off probably means something was disabled when I took it off."

Hannah looked thoughtful for a moment. "We'll have to see if we can get a live one of these," she said. "Without the collar... if it has a tracking device, we don't want their 'father' knowing we have one. He doesn't seem like the type to let one go easy." She put the gloves back on her hands, then began to drop organs into freezer bags, to store so she could study them later. "Let's just clean up here then go back to bed, then."

"Yeah, we will," Ty said. "Won't be easy though. Not by a long shot." He picked up the collar. I mean, this thing is pretty tough, so destroying one would not be easy..."
He sighed. "Okay." He put his tools in a corner, took off the gloves and put some odds and ends away before going to bed.
